Ashley J. Butler

Ashley Johnson Butler is a native of Mortons Gap, Kentucky, and founding shareholder and partner of McMasters Keith Butler, Inc.

Her practice includes representation of hospital, nursing home and physician defendants in multifaceted medical negligence lawsuits through all facets of discovery, trial and appeal. She also has extensive experience in dispute resolution on behalf of hospitals and physicians, hospital risk management and drafting of policies and procedures to comply with changing statutory and regulatory law. Ashley has significant knowledge of JCAHO reporting requirements and sentinel event investigation, and issues encountered with University based hospitals and physicians, including sovereign immunity and Board of Claims actions.

Ashley is a graduate of the University of Kentucky (B.A., 1997, Phi Beta Kappa) in psychology and M.S. in Counseling Psychology (1998). Ashley also completed her Juris Doctorate at the University of Kentucky College of Law (2002). While at the University of Kentucky College of Law, she was honored for her academic achievements with the Marie and William Cull Scholarship and the Chelsey Bailey Scholarship. She was a member of the Moot Court Board and was Vice-President of Phi Delta Phi. After graduation, Ashley practiced at Darby & Gazak, PSC and Thompson Miller & Simpson, PLLC.

Ashley is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Louisville Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute. She has been an invited speaker at KHA conferences, University of Louisville law school, University of Louisville school of paralegal studies and for various student groups with interest in law.
